Mary E. Jacks, M.S.
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Practice Description:

Specializing in depression, anxiety, grief/loss, chronic pain, trauma, parenting, alcohol-related issues, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), and play therapy for children.

I work with individuals, families, and couples helping them acquire new self-concepts and healthier patterns of interaction. Using a systemic perspective (seeing the big picture), I use an integrative approach utilizing structural, intergenerational, and solution-focused therapies to the assessment and treatment of the mind-body-spirit. I work collaboratively with my clients helping them to identify what changes need to be made to achieve their desired goals.

I believe when someone experiences discomfort, the discomfort can be a catalyst for change and an opportunity for positive growth. Typically, people report they have grown the most when in the valleys not when at the mountaintop. To achieve balance, I encourage clients to listen, honor, and respect their mind-body-spirit. I see myself as a guide/coach helping my clients navigate through and out of the valley gaining life-long skills.

Personal Interests:

I have been married over 30 years, have 3 adult children, and 4 grandchildren. I can relate to the growing population of the "sandwich generation" as I have taken an active role in the care of my mother, mother-in-law, and grandchildren. I am very blessed to have such a rich, full life. I enjoy gardening, cooking, reading, cross-country skiing, fishing, biking, yoga and much more.
