Our Practitioners

Peter Nasseff, Ph.D.,
Licensed Psychologist
Specializes in helping people who are experiencing relationship difficulties. I work with individuals, couples, families and teenagers. My goal is to help my clients identify their unmet needs in the relationship, and together develop a vision of a healthy, mutually satisfying relationship.
In addition to working with relationship issues, I also have a special interest in treating individuals with depression, anxiety, stress related issues, and grief and loss by using the Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy approach. Studies have shown that CBT is highly effective in treating such disorders. Cognitive-Behavioral therapy addresses and teaches how to recognize and change maladaptive processes of thinking, perceptions, attitudes and beliefs. I also draw from my training in Adlerian Psychology
I often use the phrase, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear”. As a therapist, I see myself as a teacher or consultant. I enjoy offering as many tools, ideas or resources that my clients may be open to. I have found that people who work on their personal growth daily, deliberately, and consciously, tend to grow quickly and maintain that personal growth.
Whether I am working with someone trying to have a healthier relationship or dealing with depression or anxiety or other life challenges in their lives, I advocate and teach “healthy thinking”, not positive thinking. Healthy Thinking, once mastered, can dramatically change the way you look at your life circumstances. I do my best at encouraging all my clients. If you have courage, you can deal with any life challenge before you.
Three times a year, I offer an eight week class on Understanding and Treating Depression. The class is open to adults 18 years of age and up. Many tools and techniques are provided to help understand and change your low mood by developing healthy thinking.
