Hudson Counseling Services’ Rates

Hudson Counseling Services has standard fees for counseling services, primarily at an hourly rate. Rates vary based on licensure.

Note that we do not accept Medical Assistance, Medicare, Forward Health, or Badger Care currently.

 

How to Find Out If You Are Covered:

To determine if you have mental health coverage through your insurance carrier, the first thing you should do is call them. The phone number of your insurance company is often on the back of your insurance card.

It is crucial to know that you, as the client, are responsible for knowing your insurance and making the best decision based on that knowledge. While we will do our best to verify your benefits beforehand, we cannot be held responsible for inaccurate information from insurance companies.

Private Pay (Cash, Check, or Credit Card)

This payment method is very popular with many clients for different reasons. It may not be as expensive as you imagine. The private pay rate is lower than the typical amount billed to insurance because there is less administrative work and fewer processing fees associated with this type of payment. There are times when using private pay makes sense, given the size of the client’s deductible.

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is available when funds allow. The Butterfly Path is an organization that raises funds for counseling services for those who cannot afford services or lose their insurance temporarily. Please complete The Assistance Request Form on The Butterfly Path site to begin the process.

How to choose Private Pay (Cash, Check, or Credit Card) vs. Insurance:

At Hudson Counseling Services, our main priority is helping you get the support you need and supporting you in choosing the payment method that is easiest and most affordable for you.

When using insurance for counseling services, you will form a record of your status and treatment, just like a medical record. That means that for insurance to cover your treatment, there must be a disorder that is diagnosed and reported to the insurance company. Most people do not have concerns about this or its complications, but you need to be informed and aware.

When paying cash for psychotherapy sessions, there is more confidentiality because insurance companies do not have access to the record of a diagnosis or your treatment, and no diagnosis is required. Another consideration for the private pay option is that sometimes deductibles are such that paying the private pay rate is less expensive than spending your deductible.

Payments & Co-Pays

Insurance co-pays and cash rates are due at each session. Hudson Counseling Services requires each client to keep a valid credit card on file that will be charged regularly upon completing sessions. Clients will receive monthly statements notifying them of their balance if there is one. If a payment arrangement is desired due to financial hardship, please contact our billing specialist, Lynn, at 715-808-8070, ext. 103.

Cancellation Policy

Hudson Counseling Services requires a 24-hour notice for canceled appointments. This allows us to contact clients on the waiting list for the week. If an appointment is canceled less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment time, a fee of $75 may be charged to the client if we cannot fill that hour. This fee cannot be billed to insurance and will be billed directly to the client. If you can reschedule your appointment within the same week, no cancellation fee will be assessed.
